Blueprint for Hope: Help for Depression and Clinical Depression Information.

Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, the maker of antidepressants such as Effexor XR and Pristiq, is showing their commitment to helping sufferers of depression by launching the campaign, Blueprint for Hope. In partnership with the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance (DBSA), Wyeth hopes to raise public awareness about the causes of depression and the need for treatment. They've designed Blueprint for Hope to help depression sufferers manage their illness with the help of medical professionals.

Anyone who has experienced Major Depressive Disorder knows what it feels like to live in a world without light; to always feel exhausted and unable to cope. Blueprint for Hope Help, through workshops and educational tools, is getting the word out that depression is a physical illness for which their is effective medical treatment. In order for the brain to transmit signals properly, it needs adequate amounts of norepinephrine, serotonin, and dopamine. Without them, people experience sadness, difficulty sleeping, lack of energy, and difficulty concentrating. Feelings of helplessness and hopelessness combined with suicidal thoughts and actions are common. There is help. Antidepressants work by regulating brain chemistry and relieving the symptoms of depression. Support services are available.

To help depression sufferers, Blueprint for Hope by Wyeth and the DBSA will be holding events in cities across the country. The next event will be held in Atlanta, GA on September 24, 2009. There, Paige Hemmis, a designer for Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, will talk about her battle with depression and give do-it-yourself tips that have helped in her recovery. Medical professionals will discuss the causes and treatment of depression. Information on support groups and services will be available.

Many companies just print up brochures; Wyeth has gone far beyond that. Blueprint for Hope doesn't stop with pamphlets. They are actually going into the communities to help depression suffers plan their recovery. It is a good cause and a good plan.
